Run Along With Me

Hat (old, similar here) / White Jean Jacket / Drape Black Top (sleeveless here) / Grey Sweatpants (old, similar here) / Nike Tennis Shoes (also loving these gems!) / Necklace / VS Lipstick in Riveting

If you asked me what this look "is", I couldn't give you one straight answer. It's comfortable enough to be worn around the house (maybe minus the jacket then), reminds me of what you'd wear to an outdoor sporting event, or something you'd wear just running errands around the city. But that's what makes this look so great; it's so versatile! Not only that though, it combines some of my favorite elements too; comfy sweats, Nike tennis shoes (which I was born and raised in), a hat and sunnies of some sort, and denim (oh, denim, how I love you). Plus, this outfit really mixes with the on-trend "sporty" look. So, trendy and comfortable? I can get used to this.

My Weekend in a Nutshell

Nail Painting! - Loving this Really Red Essie nail polish, doesn't it match my watermelon perfectly? (;
(If you guys would like me to do a tutorial on the milkmaid braids pictured here as well, leave a comment below!)

Cooking up a storm! - Made these scrumptious banana-peanut-butter-sandwiches (cut a banana into semi-thin slices and pair 2 slices together with peanut butter in the middle) covered in chocolate and froze them, how's that for easy and delicious?

Walking with Lexi! - She's as stubborn as a mule when it comes to chasing animals, "Bu-but mommy, I want this squirrel as my new chew toy not that Martha Stewart one!"

My main man FRANK and I like to hang out quite a bit on the weekends, especially in the shower. But don't get me started about the messes he likes to make...

Making bouquets - but here's what you don't see... look with caution (#behindthebouquet)

Juicy Couture Phone Case (old, similar here) / Tumbler / Burt's Bee's Mango (can't go anywhere without this stuff!)

Checking out my social media feeds to keep up to date with all of you! Be sure to keep up with me and follow along on all of my social media sites as well @ExtraordinaryFashionBlogger on Instagram and @ExtraordinaryOX on Twitter, Tumblr, and Pinterest!

Casual Summer Look

To be completely honest, the hat in this look is playing two different roles here: one was to cover my hair from the rain, the other? To cover up my second day hair. In the Summer, I actually wash my hair nearly less than every other day (that's right, sometimes I skip two days! Shocking, isn't it?). I like to give my hair a break in the Summer because I'm not seeing people as often as I used to during the school year so I don't feel the need to wash my hair as often, and it's also very healthy for your hair to be left unwashed. Talk about a win-win situation!

Fedora Hat / Black Wayfarer Sunglasses (old, similar here and here) / Vintage Levi Shorts (old, similar here and really cute Levis here!) / Grey Nike Sweatshirt (similar here and here) / Black Booties (similar here, flat version here for under $100, and gorgeous white and black leather ones here for less than $40)

I'd be lying to you if I told you that we've been having anything near stellar weather here the last few weeks. In fact, this rain and gloom is actually starting the grate on my nerves a little bit. We get it! It's Spring and we're technically in a drought, but enough already! We want the sun back! Moving on from my rant, we still have to cope with the weather, regardless of how we feel about it, and go outside to carry out our daily tasks. I for one have been trying to stay away from the outdoors during the rain as best I can, but errands must be run and life must go on. Which brings me to this "Rainy Day" look here, the style of outfit I like to wear on these rainy and gloomy Spring and Summer days and hope to swap out once Summer finally does arrive in a few days!

While we're still on the subject of rainy days, remember those gift cards you've been holding onto for years? Those ones you're saving for a rainy day and excused keeping by promising yourself you'll use once you find the perfect item? Yeah, those? Well, it's time for an intervention, ladies. We both know you're not interested and wished you had gotten a different gift card instead. It's okay, it happens to the best of us! That's where Raise comes in, they'll take your untouched (even your somewhat touched!) gift cards and pay you on the spot with only a minor deduction from the original price for what you didn't use. All you have to do is chose the gift card you're planning to sell and plug in the pin number on the card! Sounds simple, right? Then, you can go check out all of the gift cards on their sight (with the money you've made from selling) and buy a gift card that can be up to 20% (or more!) off of the original price! I mean ladies, just think about it! Would you rather spend the money on a piece you don't really care for, or take 5 minutes to get a gift card to somewhere else where you could get a piece you really love?

Don't forget to check out Raise's website in the next few weeks to see the "Closet Swap" summer style and favorites collage from other bloggers on their website! Who knows, maybe I'll even make it on there!

Stripes on Stripes

I love incorporating a scarf into my daily ensembles in order to have it on hand in case the weather decides to interfere with my look (like it decided to do while taking these pictures, darn wind!). That, and keeping my hair up or braided, helps to ensure that my hair stays out of my face.

GAP Striped Shirt (on sale and get an extra 30-40% off with code THANKS) / Stripes AE shorts (similar for less than $20 here) / Dolce Vita sandals (on sale here and here!) / Layered Bracelets / Similar Rings here and here / Diamond earrings / Betsey Johnson Cat-Eye sunglasses (on sale!)

If you ask me, stripes are a staple print in any closet. While I may be a little impartial (maybe a little more than a little) to simple, solid colors, I can't help myself when it comes to stripes. So much so that I layer them on top of each other, I mean even my shoes are "striped" here!

The GAP shirt I'm wearing here has quickly become one of my favorites as well, I wear it on almost a weekly basis in some way or another; whether tied around my waist, as a swimsuit cover-up, un-buttoned, or like above. In full honesty, I own at least 10 different button down shirts. "But they're just so versatile!" is my honest excuse. You can wear them season to season and for a number of occasions while looking perfectly put together. Can you say "perfection"? Because these men's style shirts sure can. "Men Don't Make Passes At Girls Who Wear Glasses"

Inspired by the Karlie x Warby collection launch yesterday...

Confession: I have perfect 20/20 vision, yet, ever since I can remember, I wished I was instead blindsided to an extent. Not because I enjoy seeing things in the blur, I'm almost positive that no one enjoys that, but because I have always had a love affair with glasses. I love how personal they can be, how they can be used to accessorize and complete an outfit, and most importantly, how they could instantly make me look like a Harvard prodigy (nerd girl alert). Not to mention, consistently being told I looked better with them on made a deep impression on me.

When I heard about the launch of these glasses I was beyond excited: Warby Parker has created thousands of glasses I would die to own, and Karlie Kloss is just an all around phenomenon I look up to for her determination and dedication, not to mention her simple and sweet personal style! Although I was a little disappointed that they didn't come out with with an optical eyeglasses line, I still back their support of a great cause. So in honor of these all around almost perfect glasses, and my adoration for glasses in general, shop some of my favorite picks from the collection and all time above.

Don't forget, glasses are like a purse; they're timeless investment pieces (so it's okay to splurge a little on a quality pair you love!).

Summer Uniform

Confession: I joined the trendy high-waisted mom-jean shorts club.

Most of these pieces are vintage but similar items as follows:

During the Summer, I hate wearing tight pants. Truth be told, I hate wearing tight pants in general. So you could probably predict why Summer is one of my favorite season's (AKA "no 'pants' party"). On most summer days you'll see me in some form of this outfit. I'm quite a sucker for a constructed jacket (especially this ASOS one from my Birthday Wishlist), they take a simple outfit up a notch making it look like you put more thought into it even if you did just roll out of bed and throw the first thing you saw on. Also, in the Summer, denim shorts are a must. I couldn't tell you how often I wear them if I tried, I consider them lifesaving summer essential. Yes, I said lifesaving; because who knows when you're going to need some red denim shorts to wave down mercy to a bull. Always be prepared my friends.

Off the Shoulder Smolder

HM Crinkle Crop Top / Forever 21 Stripe / Topshop Yellow CropTopshop Stripe Crop Top / Black off-shoulder Top / Crochet Off Shoulder Dress / Floral Crop / Lace Top / Nasty Gal Ruffle Sleeve Top / AA Blush Spandex Crop Top / Periwinkle Sweetheart Neckline / Gingham Top

In the summer time, when the weather is fine, it's always difficult to find a mix of "cool" and "cooling". Well, that was until the crop top and off shoulder crop top came along. When worn correctly, they can become a classic look and take you to a whole range of events while keeping you effortlessly cool and stylish. Now the only thing standing between you and and a cool summer is your credit card, and lucky for you (and your wallet) every top listed above is under $50! So, what are you waiting for? Let's get to a cool summer already!

Birthday Wishlist

Mom and Dad, secret admirers, shop below...

Floppy Wool Hat / Head Jewelry / Eyelet Matching Set / Yellow Crinkle Off-Shoulder Top / Club Monaco Soft Pants / Embellished Jacket and Shorts / ZARA Striped Dress / Reclaimed Vintage Sunglasses / Denim Shorts / Peplum Bralette / Warby Parker Glasses / Tarte Bronzer / Tarte BB Cream / MNG by Mango Dress / Vitamin A Rash Guard / Crochet Bikini Triangle Top, Halter Top and High Waisted Bottom / Solid and Striped Black Bikini Top and High Waisted Bottom / Love CuffVertical Pendent Necklace / Triple Stacked Ring / Pearl Studs (identical to the Dior ones for MUCH less!) / Charm Bracelet / Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner in Black or Brown

With my birthday less than one week away - June 9 - my parents and siblings are bombarding me with questions about what they should get me (apparently I'm difficult to shop for, who knew?). I've compiled this list from items I've had my eye on for some time, want to try, and need to expand in my collection. I even kept in mind my father's cluelessness in the shopping department, and sister's adoration for anything in the environment of makeup. I tried to keep it relatively decent in the price range, but some of these could be considered a minor splurge (which, if you ask me, is what a birthday is all about!). While I'd love a new dress or pant's suit, and a matching hat to wear for my birthday dinner, I also would be just as happy with a few dainty heartfelt pieces too. After all, it's the thought that counts, right?

My 5 Fashion Essentials

White blazer (old, similar here and nude here) / Vintage tee (go with Hanes' men's ones here, so comfortable!) / Aviator sunnies (similar here) / Red lipstick in Riveting / Pointed toe heels (old, similar on sale here)

I think every girl has items she just can't live without, like a favorite bag or shoes and so on. But when I think of essentials I think the simple things, the building blocks of an outfit and the pieces that can top a look off. My go to pieces are always a blazer and tee - usually together. And, If I am being completely honest here, I am more than impartial to a red lip, so much so I have days when I wish I was born with blood red lips. Okay, maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration, but really, they are magical with how they make a look instantly glamorous. Another accessory I couldn't drag myself to leave home without is my aviators, I will admit to even being that person who wears sunglasses at night. And heels. Don't even get me started on those, you will never hear the end of it! I LOVE heels. More than love, if I could marry a pair of shoes I would marry a pair of black pointed-toe pumps. I'm legitimately head-over-heels in love with them, pun intended. I see essentials as pieces you can wear on a daily basis but they never get old, they're timeless and simple, yet extraordinary. (See what I did there?)

XOXO
