Intimidated
Ralph Lauren White Button Down & Nike Crewneck Sweatshirt (similar here) - similar layered button down and crewneck here (it's on sale too!) / eShakti Grey Floral Skirt c/o (30% off until 10/16) / COACH Cross Body Purse / Target Oversized Watch / Bauble Bar Pearl Drop Earrings / Gold Frame Aviators (similar here) / Steve Madden Quilted Faux Leather Sneakers (on sale!)
Pencil skirts always intimidated me as something you could only wear to work - never on an easy day off. And the longing to create a look that could encompass both simplicity and comfort with a pencil skirt brings me here! I've been loving the look of "Peter Pan" collars for years, the femininity yet boy-meets-girl appeal when paired with a looser blouse or sweatshirt over the top is a combination that can't be beaten in my book. I tried to keep this look on the more put together side of things for brunching and what not, but you could easily make this look even more wearable by switching the top out for a chunky sweater, the sneakers for your favorite gym kicks, and a baseball cap for that laid-back "cool girl" look. It's crazy to think that a year ago all I thought you could could wear with a pencil skirt was a blazer, boy have I learned!

Weekend Links: Let's Shop Sales!
Happy Friday, everyone!
Since Fall is quickly approaching, a lot of stores are beginning to empty their racks on summer pieces and even start sales on Fall 2014 items for us early birds getting ready! And since the dreaded days of being a student are still with me, I know that preparing early is a lot better than scrambling at the last second in stores that are usually sold out of my size in everything (funny how that works?). Shop some of my favorite sales and sale finds below:
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming to an end in a few days (Monday, Aug 4th), and I can't get this jacket or these faux leather pants out of my mind (shop some more of my favorites here)
Even though it's the middle of July, it doesn't stop me from fantasizing about how I plan to wear this fur jacket everywhere. I can't help it, when you can get an extra 40% off of it's clearance price with code WEEKEND, how could you?
The GAP sale is killing me with classic pieces at steal prices, did you see my insta post? They have everything your heart could ever desire, I mean just look at these sneakers - $20! The same Sam Edelman ones retail for $110!
Buying my first pair of boyfriend jeans was bound to happen, and boy do I want this pair to be them (get an extra 40% of with code TREAT)
Happy Shopping!

Get the Look: Kendall Jenner Boating Style
Flat Top Sunglasses (under $15 here) / Romper (similar here as well) / Lace Up Espadrilles / White Satchel (on sale!) / Red Lipstick in Hot
Kendall Jenner is quickly becoming a fashion icon for her role in the modeling industry and with good reason. This look is one I fell in love with when I initially saw it during Cannes; it's a perfectly simple summer look with enough comfort the make it wearable for an everyday situation, yet it's still glam enough to wear it for a brunch with the girls or even date night. And, if you know me, you know versatility is a key feature in my wardrobe. If I don't have at least 3 different ways to wear a piece, I can't convince myself to buy it, and, lucky for me, with rompers you can dress them up and down for nearly any and every occasion - so you can bet that I've had my eye on quite a few. Shop some of my favorite rompers below:

Red, White, & Blue
Panama Hat Fedora / Aviator Sunglasses / Striped Sweater (old, similar here and here) / Overalls (a $12 STEAL in store!) / Essie Red Nail Polish / Layered Necklace / Red Lipstick / Thong Sandals
By now, you probably know that any chance I have to wear a red lip will be taken, and Independence Day definitely saw it's fair share of a red lip from me! Lately I've been oohing and ahhing over another fashion statement as well: overalls. I can't get enough of them! Maybe it's because I have an extreme love of denim, or potentially due to the arising 90's grunge trend, or maybe it's just because I'm a 90's baby and was raised in them, but in any case I am OBSESSED with this pair! I lived in these over the long weekend too, and, to my surprise, they're still white (and I'm still totally in love)! Oh, and did I mention the fact that I scored these puppies for $12? Yeah, now I'll bet you want to hop on the 90's bandwagon too!

Run Along With Me
Hat (old, similar here) / White Jean Jacket / Drape Black Top (sleeveless here) / Grey Sweatpants (old, similar here) / Nike Tennis Shoes (also loving these gems!) / Necklace / VS Lipstick in Riveting
If you asked me what this look "is", I couldn't give you one straight answer. It's comfortable enough to be worn around the house (maybe minus the jacket then), reminds me of what you'd wear to an outdoor sporting event, or something you'd wear just running errands around the city. But that's what makes this look so great; it's so versatile! Not only that though, it combines some of my favorite elements too; comfy sweats, Nike tennis shoes (which I was born and raised in), a hat and sunnies of some sort, and denim (oh, denim, how I love you). Plus, this outfit really mixes with the on-trend "sporty" look. So, trendy and comfortable? I can get used to this.

Au Revoir, Winter
Au Revoir Tee / Blazer (similar here) / Grey Sweatpants (Similar here) / Franco Sarto Oxford Loafers (pictured here as well) / Oscar De La Renta Aviator Sunglasses (similar here)
Hooray, it’s finally Spring! Although, it doesn’t quite feel
like it yet with the snow continuing to fall, what gives? As the temperature
begins to rise, however; the layers begin to shed and white becomes even more of a closet staple than it was this past winter. And
as you can see, I’m a firm believer in the fact that sweatpants are in fact wearable outside of the house *with
the right accessories. Personally, as you’ll
see in an upcoming post, even pajamas (I can see the look of horror on your faces already!) are wearable
outside of the house! I have a simple equation to get you through it – blazer,
your raddest shoes, and some sunglasses, a hat or any other simple accents to
complete your comfy yet chic looking ensemble. And there you have it! (You’re
welcome, ladies).
XOXO

Currently Craving #3: Spring Hats
Hats are such an overlooked piece of an ensemble, not only are they an accessory but, like sunglasses, they are a finishing touch that can complete a look to its utmost perfection. With this being said, I thought I'd help in the process of finding the perfect "finishing touch" for you, and what better time than before a big trip to purchase one?
A lady can never go wrong with a big, feminine bow - 'Fancy' Bow Hat
Wide brimmed, floppy, AND striped? Need I say more? - Packable Sun Hat
An adorable blast-from-the-past style hat never hurt a women - Hat With Ribbon
Now has anyone ever said standing in was fun? - Cobalt Blue Fedora
None other than the classic cream fedora - Panama Hat
Boat hats and wide-legged pants? Win win - Straw Boater Hat
Personally, I'd buy anything in this gorgeous rusty red - Matador Hat
Beanie-style take on the bohemian turban - Slouchy Beanie
Can you tell I'm infatuated with brimmed hats a little bit? What's YOUR favorite hat style?

Currently Craving #2: Chic Sunnies
On Spring Break one of the most essential things you can pack (other than sunscreen and aloe!) is a pair of decent sunglasses. They not only keep you from burning in the eye region, but the right ones can instantly transform your look. I chose these for a general assortment of sunglasses I believe every women should own - and with these prices, they can!
Cat Eye Sunnies: for the sassy yet classy type - the bigger the frame the bolder the look!
Wayfarers: for the "too cool for school" gal.
Aviators - because who doesn't wish they were a pilot with Ben Affleck in Pearl Harbor?
Round Frames: because if Ozzy can rock them, so can you.
So which one do YOU prefer?

And My Celebrity Style Crush Is...
Miranda Kerr’s style is known for making the impossible look
possible – for instance making leather pants look comfortable, or a calf hair
tote looking like just another casual handbag. She even made a jean jacket look
preppy. You see what I’m getting at here? She has the profound ability to take
everyday simple “lazy” pieces and make them into extraordinarily simple yet
elegant ensembles – hence, I am obviously in love with her style.
The problem I always run into with loving her wardrobe though, is
the cost – just one piece of her garb ends up costing more than I would spend
on an entire outfit. I also know of many others running into this same exact
problem, which brought me here...

As you can obviously see, this woman is a phenomenon for
more reasons than one. She just nails the simple elegance look right on the
head – a look I am utterly and deeply in love with. Her style has stood the
test of time, something I truly admire in my own fashion inspiration. Thus, I
had no other choice of talent that would exemplify my love for fashion anywhere near how much she
does.
So thank you Miranda Kerr, for being a fashion icon and sharing
it with the rest of us. You never fail to impress.
XOXO

Currently Craving #1: Sensible Spring Shoes
Blush Flats / Powder Blue Flats / White Pointed Toe Flats / Leopard Sneakers / Black Slingbacks / White Loafers / Black Loafers
Heels are a beautiful thing. But being a student and all, it's often impractical to wear heels - let alone on a regular basis. When I'm older, I cannot wait to wear heels daily! As for now, however; I have to look for other practical means of getting around, while remaining in style of course! I adore beautifully crafted flats and sandals, so odds are I'll never be caught dead in a pair of flip-flops - my sister has even tried and I won't budge - no flip-flops for me! Thus, here are a few of some of my favorite Spring flats - easy on the eyes, and the wallet! Bear with me as I know the color scheme variations are pretty boring - I still can't find it in my heart to buy a pair of shoes that I will get a minimal amount wear out of!
